Superintendent's Message

Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year!

This summer has been a very busy time for our technology and maintenance departments.  Construction projects are finally wrapping up.  We are in the process of finishing the field house gym floor, press box, and concession stand on the high school and middle school sites.  I am happy to report that all these projects are nearing completion.

Our school board did vote to refinance an existing bond.   Additional funding will now allow for new safe and secure entrances at the middle school and high school, along with changing some lighting to LED for energy conservation.

Student numbers have increased over the last two years, and it looks like they will be up again this year.  Homes are selling quickly in Highland.  Many of these buyers have families with children that will be attending our schools.

I am pleased to announce that the elementary schools will now have a full-time guidance counselor.  This should help to better meet the needs of each of our elementary students.  There will also be a nurse or health care assistant at every elementary school.

Highland Middle School has a new principal. Mr. Justin Fronek, who served as the assistant principal at the high school for the last five years, has assumed the position of Highland Middle School Principal.   In addition, we welcome Mr. Anthony Belli to the high school administrative team replacing Mr. Fronek as assistant principal.  Prior to obtaining his administrative license, Mr. Belli was a science teacher at the high school for the past fifteen years.

The School Town of Highland is a special place for our children, staff, and community members, and I look forward to another great school year.
